A Year of Gratitude: Celebrating Phil Wright’s Life Saved by Quick Thinking and CPR
This time last year, Phil Wright, a lifelong Sunderland AFC fan, experienced a life changing moment. After attending a Sunderland versus Stoke City match, Phil went into cardiac arrest at The 3 Stories in Sunderland. Thanks to a bystander performing CPR, a rapid police response, and early shocks delivered by our Red Sky Foundation defibrillator, Phil survived. His story is a powerful reminder of how vital early intervention is in cardiac emergencies.
Last year, Phil had the chance to meet the amazing paramedics and police officers who saved his life. Reflecting on the experience, he shared how incredibly grateful he is for the care he received. For Phil, the reunion was more than a thank you; it was a moment to celebrate the teamwork, training, and quick thinking that made the difference between life and death.
This month, one year on from that terrifying day, we celebrated Phil’s survival at a fundraiser with him and his friends for Red Sky Foundation, and what a night it was. The event was filled with laughter, memories, and heartfelt thanks to everyone who played a part in saving Phil’s life. Phil raised an incredible £250!
Phil, know that we will always be here for you. ❤️
